The number of people in Sarnia’s COVID-19 unit suspected of having the virus has jumped considerably.

Saturday there were 27 people at Bluewater Health – 16 who had tested positive, 11 suspected to have the virus. Today, there are 37 people in hospital – with 21 waiting for test results.

There has been one more confirmed case of the virus in Lambton County. According to Lambton Public Health there are 132 people who have tested positive as of Sunday morning. Thirteen have died of COVID-19 including six people at Landmark Village in Sarnia.

Forty seven people have recovered according to public health.

The province has ramped up testing and Lambton County has followed suit. All residents and staff of the local nursing and retirement homes will be tested for the novel coronavirus. Residents and staff at Meadowview Villa in Petrolia were tested last week after one staff member tested positive with COVID-19.

Overnight, 69 more test results were received because of the increased testing. Of the 865 tests completed, 85 per cent are negative.
