Another resident of Vision dies from COVID-19 – as number of people infected grows

Another resident at Vision Nursing Home has died of COVID-19 and four more staff members are now ill.

Lambton Public Health released the information Thursday morning.

The Sarnia nursing home has been dealing with the respiratory virus since April 23. Seven people have now died, 24 staff members have tested positive for the virus as have 24 residents. Four more staff members and one more resident tested positive for COVID-19 Wednesday.

Bluewater Health has stepped up its partnership with the home to try to bring the virus under control.

At least 20 hospital staff have been working with the home. And the hospital has taken over some key areas to help stop the spread of COVID-19 including infection control, personal protective equipment, cleaning services.

Lambton Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Sudit Ranade, says the hospital’s involvement is a partnership not a take over.

Across Lambton County there were seven new cases of COVID-19 reported Wednesday – five at Vision and two in the community. There have been 261 people test positive for COVID-19 in the county, 180 have recovered. Just over 6,000 tests have now been completed.
