About 30 firefighters helped knock down a fire caused by an out of control burn pile.

Watford and Warwick fire stations were called to Erie Street between John Street and Warwick Street in Watford yesterday around 6 pm along with the Lambton OPP.

Chief Rick Sitlington says a resident had a burn pile going too close to the family’s deck. It caught fire and was destroyed. The house was also damaged. Sitlington was not able to say the dollar value of the damage.

About 30 firefighters were on scene. Sitlington says more people were needed because of the heat. It allowed firefighters to switch out when they were too hot.
