Classic car gone ‘in a minute’ near Bothwell
July 10, 2020
When David Stocking was 18, he bought a 1962 Pontiac Laurentian. Years later, he bought one exactly like it to restore with his son, Scott.
“We’ve spent 10 years working on this car,” says Stocking. “We’re restored it from top to bottom inside of it everything’s all pristine. We haven’t even put 20 miles on it.”
After years of work, the car was almost ready to hit the road. It was loaded up on a trailer behind his 2007 grey Chevrolet Duromax ready to head out for the final finishing touches in the morning.
“First thing in the morning it was going… I had helped load it (the night before) because everybody was gone the next day.”
When Stocking went out to the shed on Zone Road 7 near Bothwell Wednesday morning, the truck, trailer and classic car were gone.
“They came in the back way. They pulled up side of the truck, one person got out and within a minute, the truck was started up and was out the driveway.”
The truck and trailer were found later that day near Moriaviantown.
Stocking, who had been robbed several years ago, put video system on his property. He says the video shows the truck, trailer and classic car disappearing from his property in less than a minute.
Stocking is hopeful the unique car will be found.
“I will never find another one like it,” he says.
