Corridor gets $1.5M from Ontario

The provincial government has stepped up to help build the oversized load corridor in Sarnia-Lambton.
The $16.5 million project makes a clear path for fabricating industries to get large modular equipment made in Sarnia-Lambton to the Sarnia port and eventually to Canada’s oil patch or overseas. The province is pitching in $1.5 million for the work.
The federal government has already invested $6 million in the project. Sarnia is putting up $4.7 million while the county is putting up $1.2 million. St. Clair Township is also contributing to the cost as is the Sarnia Lambton Industrial Alliance – a coalition of industrial companies in the community. Cesar Business College – which is linked to Lambton College – also contributed $4 million to the project.
Officials say the project is moving ahead as the city and county try to find more funding for the project.
Industry is already using the route as it is being completed.
