November 25, 2020

Dawn-Euphemia firefighters are mourning the loss of one of their own.

Dalles Bergsma died suddenly Monday according to Fire Chief Don Ewing. At press time, Ewing said he was not aware what had happened, only that the young man who had ably served the department the last five years had passed away.

“Dalles was a great type of guy. He he dropped anything he was doing to give you a hand at any time. That was just the type of guy he was. He was one of our one of our very reliable guys…a very nice, personable young man,” says Ewing.

Bergsma served on the department with two of his brothers.

Ewing hopes the department can find a way to honour him in time. But he says they will respect the wishes of his family. Bergsma leaves behind his wife, Michelle.
