Lambton County will be building 24 new affordable housing units for seniors, thanks to funding from the federal and provincial government.
Federal, provincial and county officials were on hand for a news conference Friday morning where the $1.3 million funding announcement was made.
The new development will be an existing county housing building at 993 Maxwell Street. There will be 24, one bedroom apartments including six which will be full accessible. The three story addition will be modular, using prefabricated units.
“These innovative 24 modular housing units will ensure vulnerable seniors in our community have a safe and affordable place to call home,” says Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey.
