Another Central Lambton school dealing with COVID-19 as outbreak at Brooke Central ends

Lambton Public Health has declared the COVID-19 outbreak at Brooke Central School over.

Students at the school had been learning from home for two weeks after six students came down with the virus. Public health declared the outbreak because two of the cases were variants of concern. The students went back to class Thursday and public health declared the outbreak over.

COVID-19 is still present in Lambton classrooms. Twenty-two schools were dealing with cases Friday including Lambton Centennial and St. Philip in Petrolia and St. Peter Canisius in Watford. There are 59 students and staff ill.

Lambton Public Health reported another 29 new cases today with 34 people being cleared of the virus. Officials say 217 people are ill right now and seven people are in hospital with COVID-19 in Sarnia.

There are also three workplace outbreaks reported in the last three days. Thirteen people are ill there.

The province reported 2,169 new cases of COVID-19 Friday and 12 deaths.
