Southwest Ys looking for partner for new Indigenous mental health program
January 12, 2023
Southwestern Ontario YMCAs will soon be offering two new mental health programs for young people, but it needs help to deliver one.
The local Ys will receive some of the $6.9 million for mental health support provided by the federal government. It’s to increase access to youth mental health and wellness supports through the Y Mind and Mind Medicine programs.
The programs are free and Andrew Lockie, the CEO of Southwestern Ontario YMCA says they’re looking for an Indigenous partner to help with the Mind Medicine program which uses Indigenous teaches into the program.
The YMCA is passionate about the health of young people, and especially providing the skills to act as a foundation for mental wellness,” said Lockie.
