Cause of Petrolia Line fire undetermined

March 23, 2023

Brooke Fire Service Chief Steve Knight says the cause of a fire on Petrolia Line will likely never be determined.

Around 10 pm Wednesday, firefighters from Brooke, Watford and Petrolia/North Enniskillen were called to the home between Little Ireland Road and Old Walnut Road. Knight says flames were coming through the front windows when he arrived.

Knight says the fire spread quickly. “There was a little bit of wind and lots of fuel,” he says adding the home is a total loss.

One person lived in the two-storey house. He wasn’t there are the time but pulled into the driveway as fire crews arrived.

Knight says the exact cause of the blaze won’t be determined. “He was doing some renovations but there is so much damage after these fires it is the hardest part of the job to find the cause,” says Knight.

He added the large loss fire was not suspicious.

No one was injured in the blaze.
