OPP lay 44 impaired driving charges in RIDE checks

Lambton OPP laid more impaired driving charges than just about any detachment in southwestern Ontario.

OPP recently released its Holiday RIDE program statistics showing Lambton laid 44 charges and gave 12 warning suspensions. Only Essex County laid more charges – 56.

But the Lambton OPP and Essex detachments also had more RIDE traffic stops than other jurisdictions – 246 and 247 respectively. Nearby Huron County did the most RIDE traffic stops, 332 but only laid 26 charges.

Overall 353 impaired driving charges were laid in the West Region over the Christmas period this year compared to 278 last year. Over 13,000 vehicles were checked in 2,446 events.
