Volunteers recognized in Petrolia

The Town of Petrolia said thank you to the volunteers who work in the community.

Wednesday night service club members, town committees, Victoria Playhouse Petrolia volunteers, and many other groups were recognized at the event. And four people were recognized as outstanding volunteers.

Ginny Williams was named Volunteer of the Year for Community Service. Williams is active in the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 216, the IODE and the CEE Hospital as well as volunteering for the local hospice.

Stuart and Cindy Sharp were also named Volunteers of the year. The couple are former parks adn recreation advisory committee members, key members of Christ Anglican Church and assist with the Petrolia Preschool as well as help with the Santa Parade and the Christmas Planters in town.

And Heidi Soudant was recognized for her work in volunteer organizations such as the Petrolia Community Refrigerator and the Rotary Club. Through her business, Heidi’s Independent, she partners with events and activities in the town and is a donor to a number of groups and organizations.

“We are very fortunate to have so many people that are very giving of their time and expertise to make Petrolia an awesome community,” said Mayor Brad Loosley.
