Failed Grand Bend traffic stop leads to slew of charges

A Windsor man is facing ten charges after string of incidents which started in Grand Bend and led back to his hometown.
Just after 9 pm Saturday, Lambton OPP tried to stop a vehicle on Main Street in Grand Bend for a Highway Traffic Act violation, but it fled the area.
A short time later, the same vehicle had a collision around Greenway and Lakeshore Road. The vehicle was seen heading southbound on Lakeshore after the crash.
Two hours later, the same vehicle passed an Essex OPP officer on the 401 traveling at speeds estimated to be more tha 200 km/h in the 100 km/hour zone.
Sunday, a man turned himself in to the Lambton OPP.
Jakob Monforton, 23, has been charged with two counts each of stunt driving and dangerous operation of a vehicle as well as flight from police, failing to stop for police, failing to report an accident, failing to remain at the scene and failing to report damage to property.
Monforton will be before a judge Aug. 6. He’s been issued a 30-Day drivers licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
