Commercial vehicle lands in Petrolia Line ditch, faces charges
August 22, 2024
A truck driver trying to avoid construction on Petrolia Line ended up with more trouble than they expected.
Lambton OPP say around 10:15 am Tuesday, a commercial vehicle requested a tow at the corner Petrolia Line and Forest Road, where a construction detour is now in place.
The driver told OPP they’d been attempting to complete a U-Turn when they backed into a ditch and became stuck.
Police reviewed the driver’s electronic logs.
A 37 year-old London driver has been charged with making an unsafe move in a lane or shoulder and driving without eight hours off.
Lambton OPP says commercial vehicle operators should have accurate logs since they’re designed to prevent fatigue-related incidents on the road. Officials add violations can lead to stiff fines and driving without a break can pose “serious safety risks to all road users.”
