North Middlesex hands Flyers a rare loss
November 1, 2024
Former Flyer Maddox Nazwaski made 30 saves to backstop the North Middlesex Stars to a 3-1 win in Petrolia Thursday.
The St. Thomas native is now 4-1 on the season for the Parkhill-based Stars with a 2.46 goals against average and a .937 save percentage. Ethan Everaert made 24 stops for Petrolia. It was his first loss in more than a month.
Owen Peters had a late second period goal for the Flyers’ only tally of the night before a recorded crowd of just under 200 fans.
Peters is now tied for the team lead with Andrew Jaques with ten goals each. Peters (below) was chosen as the Bluewater Power player of the game.
The loss was only the second in regulation time for Petrolia in 15 games this season. They are 11-2-2.
The Flyers and Exeter share the Yeck division lead, seven points better than North Middlesex but the Stars, at 8-3-1, have three games in hand.
Petrolia and the Stars have a return game on Saturday night in Parkhill. Puck drop is 8 p.m.
