Plympton-Wyoming school shows giving can be fun

December 13, 2024

Cheers filled the halls and gym of Plympton-Wyoming Public School as over 880 boxes of cereal were toppled like dominoes through the halls and around the gym.

In the last few weeks, Teacher Tressa Brown helped the School Spirit captains encourage each class to gather as many cereal boxes as they could with the goal of giving them to the Petrolia Food Bank. But before they were taken to the food bank Friday, the Grade Eight students took 45 minutes to set up a giant maze through the school halls.

“They did the math to get the boxes in the right place and how many boxes were needed,” she said. “It was a group effort.”

“You should have seen some of the problem solving. They’d set up and then (accidentally) knock down a box and they would have to dive to save it.”

As the boxes tumbled through the hall, kids cheered and there was a loud roar when the last box tipped over in the middle of gym.
