January 26, 2025

The Independent

A Plympton-Wyoming man will spend about four years in jail for ramming a OPP cruiser.

Cody Price, who is already in prison on charges of theft, was sentenced Jan .14 in Sarnia.

Lambton OPP posted to social media they were looking for Cody Price, the man they believed was involved in the crash of the cruiser Dec. 30, 2022 in rural St. Clair Township.

At the time, police said Price is allegedly a repeat offender who “steals pickup trucks daily.” Price surrendered to police Jan. 8. and was charged with assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, flight from police, dangerous operation of a vehicle, break and enter, two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of theft over $5,000, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime and failing to comply with a release order.

Jan. 14, he was sentenced to 1,590 days in prison, about four-and-a half years, for the incident.

With time taken into account for being in custody before he was sentenced, Price has less than four
years left to serve.

In 2022, Price was also sentenced to five years in prison after OPP uncovered a $500,000 theft
ring. Price faced over a dozen charges. His arrest in the thefts led to an investigation by the Special Investigations Unit. Price had been seen on Courtright Line with a stolen vehicle and trailer. When police tried to arrest him, he resisted and end up with a broken nose. The SIU concluded police used reasonable force to try to arrest Price at the time.
