Workers at Waterville TG in Petrolia turned down another contract offer by the company – the second in as many months.
June 8, 85 per cent of UAW Local 251 workers at the auto parts plant turned down an offer from the company. Talks continued.
Then July 6, workers were called to the UAW Hall in Wallaceburg for a vote on a second offer. This time it was rejected by the slimmest of margins, only 54 per cent according to sources.
The company and union are continuing negotiations this week and workers are expected to meet again, likely to hear about the latest offer, Saturday.
Upwards of 275 people work at the plant which produces automotive sealing systems.
Company officials did not reply to our questions about the ongoing negotiations at one of Central Lambton’s largest manufacturing companies.
