Two charged after Sarnia woman kidnapped and beaten on London Road

Truckers charged for driving too slow on 402 near Bluewater Bridge

Two truck drivers, one from Kitchener, one from Brampton, are facing charges of driving “unnecessarily slow” on Highway 402.
For months, transports have lined the westbound lanes leading into the US, clogging traffic. Wait times for transports can last hours and sometimes, passenger vehicles are also slowed by the congestion.
Pt. Edward Mayor Bev Hand says part of the problem is increased truck traffic as drivers use the Pt. Edward span instead of the more expensive Windsor border. There has also been construction on a bridge between Modeland and Indian Roads where the highway narrows to a single lane. It’s not clear when that construction will be complete.
Aug. 15, the OPP announced increased patrols in the area. Yesterday around 4 pm, police were stopping transports heading into the US.
One 40 year-old driver from Brampton and another 31 year-old driver from Kitchener were both charged with failing to properly record duty status changes and driving unnecessarily slow.
“Proper record keeping ensures drivers are well rested and in compliance with hours-of-service regulations, reducing the risk of fatigue-related collisions,” said OPP officials in a news release.
