Sting, Knights winless opening weekend

The Sarnia Sting is 0-2 after week one of the Ontario Hockey League season.
The Sting lost 8-1 to Windsor in the Sarnia home opener last Friday and then fell 5-2 to the Greyhounds in the Soo Sunday.
Jack Van Volsen has two of the Sting’s three goals, both on the power play.
London also lost its first two games of the campaign but earned a point with an overtime loss to Owen Sound last Friday in the Knights home opener.
The Spitfires beat London, 4-1 in Windsor Saturday.
Knights head coach Dale Hunter suffered minor injuries when a pane of glass behind the London bench shattered in the third period showering Hunter and some of his players with glass.
Both the Sting and Knights are getting some reinforcements from NHL camps.
Defenceman Lukas Fischer has been returned to Sarnia from the St. Louis Blues while goaltender Alexei Medvedev has been sent back to London by the Vancouver Canucks.
Meantime, Jack Nesbitt, who has family ties to Alvinston, drew an assist for the Flyers in a 3-2 win over the Islanders in an NHL preseason game on the weekend. As of our press time, he was still at the Philadelphia camp.
