Not unexpectedly, Forest’s Tyler McGregor has been named to the Canadian roster for the International Para Hockey Cup in Czechia next week. Team Canada opens the tournament against Team USA Monday. The Americans beat Canada in the final last year.

Petrolia’s Adam Broad had two assistsfor the Strathroy Rockets in a 4-2 home ice loss to St. Marys in Greater Ontario Hockey League action Oct. 12. Broad now has five assists in eight games with the Rockets. Sunday in Komoka, Strathroy captain Will Hull of Oil Springs and Watford’s Wyatt Ferguson both drew assists in the Rockets 5-1 win over the Kings. For Ferguson, an affiliated player it was his first career point in the league.

Matthew Henderson has registered his first two career points in the OHL. He assisted on goals in back-to-back games with the Kingston Frontenacs last weekend. Henderson, with family ties to Petrolia, is plus four through eight games this season. He was a first round pick by the Frontenacs in the OHL Priority Selection in April.

The Greater Ontario Hockey League season-opening losing streak for the Sarnia Legionnaires has reached ten games after setbacks to Komoka and Waterloo last week. Sarnia entertains London on Thursday and then skates against the Maroons in Chatham on Sunday night.

LCCVI has a bye this week as they prepare to host Ursuline in LKSSAA high school football on Oct. 23 in Petrolia. Gabe Ardell scored a trio of touchdowns to lead the Lancers to a 35-7 win over CKSS in Chatham Oct. 9. Isaiah Ardell and Hunter Duncan had the other majors for the Lancers. Duncan also kicked four extra points and a single. LCCVI is now 3-1 on the season.

Emma Munroe of Lambton College continues to tune up for the OCAA cross-country championship. She finished 11th at the Mohawk Invitational in Mount Hope. Munroe is from Forest and a graduate of North Lambton. Wyoming’s Justine Abbott of St. Clair placed 24th and Corunna’s Riley Heath, a grad of Great Lakes, was 39th for the Lions.
