Briefly: Bork leads rookie scoring for Kings, Greydanus hits career highs

Watford’s Ryan Bork notched his fourth goal of the season for the Dresden Jr. Kings in a 3-1 win over the Wild at Walpole Island Nov. 6. Bork leads the Kings in rookie scoring this season with seven points in 20 games.
Wyoming’s Nathan Reidhead is second in team rookie scoring with six points after registering an assist against the Wild.

The Sarnia Legionnaires losing streak has reached 21 games after losses to Pelham and Port Colborne last week.
Sarnia is home to Waterloo at Pat Stapleton Arena on Thursday at 7:10. The same two teams play in Waterloo on Sunday afternoon.

For the second time in past three seasons, Chatham’s Ursuline College Lancers won the LKSSAA senior boys’ AAA football trophy. The Lancers beat previously unbeaten St. Patrick’s 33-13 in the championship contest at Norm Perry Park last Friday.

Rob Thomson of the Phillies finished third in the National League Manager of the Year voting announced last week.
Thomson, born in Sarnia and raised in Corunna, received one first place vote finishing behind Pat Murphy of the Brewers and Terry Francona of the Cincinnati Reds.

Wyoming’s Kaiya Greydanus had careers highs in digs (5), points (3) and kills, aces and total blocks (1 each) in Brock’s 3-0 win over Trent in OUA women’s volleyball over the weekend. The LCCVI grad and her teammates are now 7-1 and ranked in the top ten in the province.

Former Alvinston resident and Canadian Olympian Krista DuChene won her Masters division age group and finished fourth overall among female runners at the Athletics Ontario cross-country championship in Whitby on the weekend.
Meantime, Camlachie’s Keala Pickard was 26th of 148 runners in the girls’ under-16 competition.

Sarnia’s St. Patrick’s will be the second seed for the upcoming OFSAA senior girls’ AAA basketball tournament later this week at both the Irish gym and Lambton College. The Irish open Thursday morning against Ottawa’s South Carleton at 9 am.
Barrie’s Maple Ridge Secondary, the defending champions, are the top seed for the 16-team competition.

The Petrolia Oilers won five straight games to win the under-11 tier 3 championships at the Black and Gold tournament in West Lorne. Petrolia outscored its opposition, 24-4 including a 5-1 win over South Kent in the final.

The Lambton Shores Predators won three divisions at the Beaverloch minor hockey tournament in Thorold on the weekend.
The Preds beat Garden City, 2-1 in the under-15 final; they edged the Petrolia Oilers, 3-1 in under-13 championship game and blanked Petrolia, 2-0 in the under-11 final.

A gold medal weekend for the Mooretown Lady Flags in the under-11 B division at the Stratford Aces tournament. The Lady Flags won five straight games including a shootout victory in the semi-finals and a 1-0 win over Mt. Forest in the championship contest.
