Countdown on to Killer Bees opener at Outlaw Tournament

April 24, 2026

Barry Wright/The Independent

A three-week hiatus for the Alvinston Killer Bees will end this weekend when the Bees take on the Deseronto Bulldogs in the first game for both teams at the inaugural NPHL Outlaw Tournament in Smiths Falls, southwest of Ottawa. Game time Saturday is 5 p.m.

The Bees – who are ranked fourth in the eight-team tournament – have not seen any action since they beat Six Nations to win the Apex Cup earlier this month.

Alvinston will play Tilbury Sunday at noon. The Bluebirds have been named as a replacement for the Strathroy Jets at the year-end event.

Meantime, the Bees will have a new opponent in the Northern Premier Hockey League’s Metropolitan Division next season.

The Ridgetown Royals has left the American Premier Hockey League to join the NPHL beginning in the fall.

The Royals advanced to the APHL semi-finals this season.

Their roster this season included former Petrolia Squires forwards Nolan Vandenboorn and Steven Beenackers along with ex-Mooretown Flags goalie Nolan Hakr.
