LCCVI, North Lambton win big at high school track meet

LCCVI’s Kole Chapman, Megan Munro and Jaylen Helps all won their respective events to open the LKSSAA track and field season at Great Lakes.

Chapman won the senior boy’s 110 metre hurdles competition in a time of 14.97, Munro was first to cross the finish line in the senior girls’ 400 metre race in 1:04.50 and Helps’ throw of 28.22 metres took top spot in the girls’ javelin ahead of LCCVI teammate and runner-up Khloe Barron April 21.

Helps was also third in the junior girls’ discus and Barron finished fourth in the junior girls’ 400 metre race. Chapman was also fourth in the senior boys’ 100 metre dash.

Colton Peters and Arlee Roder topped the podium for North Lambton. Peters captured the junior boys’ 1500 metre race in 4:49.07 and Roder won the Novice girls’ 400 metre race in 1:05.62.

Elsewhere among LCCVI athletes, Xander Knapp was third in the junior boys 100 metre hurdles, Rhys Marriott was third in the novice boy’s 100 metre race and Zoe Elliott was third in the senior girls’ 100 metre sprint.  Berkley Joy was third in the junior girls’ 1500 metre event, Heidi Shaw and Sophia Majeski placed fourth and fifth in senior girls’ 1500 metre event and Keira Anjema placed fourth in the senior girls’ discus.

Skyla Willemse placed second and third in the junior girls’ 1500 and 400 metre races respectively for the Eagles while Hailey Reid and Ellyot Schoonjans were third and fourth in the novice girls’ and junior girls’ 1500 metre events respectively.
