The Alvinston Killer Bees third period rally was not enough as the Bees came up just short in the Outlaw Cup final bowing to the host Smiths Falls Rideaus, 4-3 in the eastern Ontario community on Saturday afternoon.
Jack Nevins, who played with the Sarnia Sting in the 2010s, scored twice for the winners and Dallas Slack made 38 saves for the home side.
The Rideaus jumped out to a 2-0 lead after a period only to see Bayly Fryfogle cut the gap to a goal after 40 minutes with a power play tally late in the middle frame for Alvinston.
Smiths Falls increased its lead to 4-1 with a pair of goals in 70 seconds early in the third period. Brandon Couto scored for the Killer Bees with just over 13 minutes left in regulation time before Jacob Chantler connected with an extra attacker with just 34 seconds remaining. James MacEwan had two assists.
Joseph Raaymakers made 31 saves as the Bees outshot Smiths Falls, 41-35.
