Lambton OPP officers to use Warwick township office

May 8, 2026

The Independent

Warwick Township politicians are hoping OPP will stay a little longer in their community.

May 4, CAO Trevor Jarrett said the Lambton detachment is looking space in Watford for patrol officers to use.

“When they’re out on the east side on Petrolia, they’re looking for stop-in stations to work from 24-hour access and accessibility,” Jarrott said. “Basically, a spot for them to come in, maybe use the washroom, maybe file a report.” Warwick can accommodate the officers in town hall, Jarrott said.

Councillors Joe Manning and Wayne Morris questioned whether the department would pay rent; Jarrott said no.

“Are we going actually see an increased presence … we pay them a lot of money, I’d like to see something for what we get,” said Manning.

Jarrott expects offering the space will mean the officers won’t be returning to Petrolia as much and spending more time in Watford.
