EF0 tornado touches down southeast of Alvinston

A major storm blew through Lambton Thursday dumping an estimated 15 to 75 mm of rain in the wake of its path.
Around 4:20 pm Environment Canada issued a tornado warning saying a heavy band of storms would be passing through Marthaville, Wyoming and Petrolia. While there was rain, there were no reports of twisters in that area.

The storm started in Sarnia where witnesses reported driving, heavy rain and hail. There was enough rain in the Wyoming area to leave water lying in the fields. South of Inwood, small lakes appeared in fields after the storm had passed.

The heavy dark clouds moved toward Alvinston and Glencoe, which is south east of Brooke-Alvinston community. It was there where the storm appears to have done the most damage.

The Northern Tornadoes Project confirms a supercell tornado left a narrow path of damage west of Glencoe. After an initial investigation following the event, NTP officials say it was an EF0 tornado. The tornado was strong enough to topple trailers in the fields.

An NTP damage survey team will visit the area Friday to determine a final rating, length, and max width, plus document any downburst or hail damage that may have occurred with the storm.
