Province OKs two local road projects

Two local infrastructure projects have cleared the first hurdle to getting funding.
Friday, Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton announced a number of project, including the Victoria Street reconstruction in Warwick and the Shiloh Line Rehabilitation in Brooke-Alvinston, have been give the green light for infrastructure funding.
The province will contribute $344,862 to extend sidewalks, curbs and update a bus-loading zone in Warwick. Brooke-Alvinston may receive just over $1 million from the province to rehabilitate Shiloh Line from AW Campbell Conservation Authority to Forest Road.
Steven Ikert, treasurer of Brooke-Alvinston, says with the provincial approval, the projects now go to the federal government for review which has to approve its share of the funding – 44 per cent of the cost.
The federal and provincial government have been at odds about the program. The feds saying the province isn’t submitting projects and the province says Ontario is not getting any funding.
