No ball in Wyoming this summer; executive leaves room for shortened season
June 1, 2020
Wyoming Minor Ball says it is cancelling its regular season, but it is not ruling out a shortened season if it becomes possible.
In a news release Monday, the executive committee said the regular season was cancelled in light of recent announcements from surrounding centres and leagues which have also cancelled their seasons.
“Cancelling the season, was not an easy decision to come by, however in consideration of the health & safety, of our players, coaches, umpires & volunteers, it was the best decision to make,” officials say.
“We will continue to monitor the current COVID-19 situation and announcements pertaining to play. If it becomes possible later this summer, a model could be developed to get back on the diamonds,” says Matt Helps, president of minor ball.
Families will be refunded for their registration and fundraising costs.
