Lambton ‘in a good spot’ as province prepares to unveil Phase 3 of reopening
July 13, 2020
Lambton’s Medical Officer of Health believes the area is in a good place to move into Phase three of the reopening of the province.
Premier Doug Ford is expecting to announce the details of Phase Three of the reopening today at 1pm. Dr. Sudit Ranade says medical officers of health, like everyone else, are waiting to hear the announcement.
But he says Lambton is “in a good place” to be part of the next phase of reopening. There have been only five cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in Lambton since June 20. Officials say 100 per cent of those cases can be traced to other cases in the area.
Officials say in the one new case, there were four people connected to the person who tested positive for COVID-19. Right now, public health is making 22 calls each day to follow up with people connected to the people with COVID-19.
Community spread and the effectiveness of contact tracing are two main areas the province has considered as it reopens the province.
Only 950 tests were performed in Lambton in the last week – it usually took three days to get a result.
