Ford expected to reopen some parts of province today

Lambton not expected to be among those opening

Premier Doug Ford is expected to start lifting the lockdown in some parts of Ontario today.

Multiple media reports say the premier will make the announcement at 1pm today. Lambton is not expected to be among the first to open.

Ontario reporting 1,265 new COVID-19 cases today and 33 new deaths – 10 in long term care homes.

One of those was at Village on the St. Clair Retirement Home in Sarnia, which Lambton Public Health reports registered another death this weekend in its ongoing outbreak. The retirement residence has been in outbreak since Dec. 30 with 28 residents and 15 staff members testing positive. There have been five deaths related to COVID-19 there.

Twin Lakes Terrace also reported another new case of COVID-19 in a staff member. Eighteen residents and six staff tested positive for the virus. One has died.

And there has been a second outbreak declared at Vision. One staff member tested positive over the weekend. There is also a large outbreak on the rest home side of Vision with 32 residents and 16 staff COVID-19 positive. Three have died.

There were just five new cases of COVID-19 in Lambton reported with 50 people actively ill. There are just four people in hospital.

There are also nine outbreaks in the community, including one at the Sarnia Jail where two inmates are ill. Four people have tested positive resulting in a new workplace outbreak.

Bluewater Health reports its outbreak in the medicine unit has been declared over. Four patients and six staff members tested positive there.

Aamjiwnaang evacuates parts of community as INEOS decommissioning increases benzene levels
