Three new COVID-19 outbreaks in Lambton

Lambton Public Health is investigating three new COVID-19 outbreaks.

Officials say there has been an outbreak at the Sarnia Jail where one inmate has tested positive for COVID-19.

There has also been a new workplace outbreak. A workplace outbreak is declared when there is more than two cases linked to a workplace. Three staff tested positive in the Lambton workplace.

And there is another COVID-19 outbreak at Vision Nursing Home in Sarnia. The non-profit’s rest home has been in outbreak since Dec. 30 with all but one resident at the Vision Rest Home has tested positive for COVID-19. There is now an outbreak in the Nursing home with one staff member testing positive for the virus over the weekend.

There have been 14 new cases reported over the weekend in Lambton with 50 people actively ill. Another 16 people have recovered. And there has also been another death, although its not clear the circumstances surrounding it because the public health unit doesn’t release detailed information on weekends.

Ontario is reporting 1,489 new cases Sunday with 22 deaths – 13 of those in long term care.

Meantime, multiple news outlets are reporting the Ford Government will announce the lockdown will be lifted in stages this coming week.

LCCVI’s Zelenchuk win boys’ singles tennis crown

Yarko Zelecnhuk won the boys’ singles banner at the LKSSAA north division tennis tournament this week. The LCCVI student will now advance to the overall LK championship tournament next Tuesday in Chatham.
