Rain hampering repair work on Florence Road
Heavy rain is hampering the work of Hydro One crews who have been busy on Florence Road today after 11 hydro poles were knocked down when a severe storm ripped through the area.
Dozens of workers have been on the scene since it happened working to repair the lines which have left people north of Thamesville without power.
There is also outages near Bothwell and Wabash.
The storms which Environment Canada issued a warning for this afternoon have caused additional problems.
“Crews are working through the heavy rain affecting the area right now but it is causing issues with the work required to replace the broken poles including the ground closing in on the holes for the poles,” says a Hydro One spokesperson Tiziana Baccega Rosa.
“They are using a different method and tools to get the work done but it will take longer than initially anticipated (tonight at midnight). “The estimated time of restoration is being updated to tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. .
