September 12, 2022
Lambton OPP is investigating a hate crime at the Petrolia Fair.
The owner of Truck’n Mamma’s food truck arrived on the fairgrounds Sunday morning to find a PRIDE flag in a noose attached to the propane tanks of the truck.
Chris Tripp alerted the fair board which condemned the act publicly.
“We are absolutely disgusted by this hateful act! The Petrolia fair is for everyone! We love and support our LGBTQ2S+ community and we want you to know that despite this hateful act our fair is a safe place for you and we will work hard to make sure this remains a safe place for everyone,” the ag society wrote on social media.
Tripp also alerted the OPP who are now investigating what they said on social media was a ”hate crime.”
Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
This is not the first time Tripp’s business has been targeted Earlier this year the business owner was confronted by a customer who was offended by a PRIDE awning on the truck.
