April 27, 2024

THE Alvinston Killer Bees scored four in the third but it wasn’t enough as the Tillsonburg Thunder won Game 7 in the WOSHL Final 5-4 to claim the Super Hockey League Championship.

The home team opened the scoring at 6:46 of the first period on a bad bounce off the end board and took a 1-0 advantage into the first intermission.

After adding an early second period goal, the Thunder scored twice in 71 seconds midway through the middle frame for a 4-0 lead at the second intermission.

Tillsonburg increased its lead to five goals early in the final period before the Killer Bees began its rally.

James McEwan, Franco Sproveiro, Brennan Feasey and Aidan Preuter scored for Alvinston in less than nine minutes in the third period and had a late power play but couldn’t get the equalizer.

The Bees outshot the Thunder, 41-38 including 16-7 in the third period.
