Faulkner’s OT goal lifts Killer Bees over Squires

It was Caden Faulkner’s night as Alvinston Killer Bees scored three unanswered goals to beat the Petrolia Squires 6-5 in over time.

Faulkner had two goals and an assist on the the night, including the game winner in OT.

With five minutes left in the third, the Squires led 5-3. Jayden Lamell scored for the Bees with 3:41 left in the period off the sticks of Ethan Lamoureux and Captain James McEwan.

A minute and half later, seconds into a power play, Lammel passed the puck to McEwan to tie the game. Faulkner also assisted on the tying goal.

Both the Squires and the Bees racked up penalties in the dying seconds of the third. TJ Harris of Petrolia and Ethan Tichenoff were both assessed slashing minors.

Then, with just over six minutes left in the first OT period, Faulkner scored unassisted to lift the Killer Bees to the win.

Ethan Lamoureux had his 14th and 15th goal of the season; McEwan had scored his 15 and added two assists for the Bees and Lammel had a goal and an assist.

TJ Harris scored twice for the Squires as did Jack VanEyk. Joey Ferrera had a power play goal for Petrolia at the end of the second.

Goalie Dane Gubbels stopped 28 shots for the win. Jacob Knowles stopped 32 in the loss for the Squires.
