February 27, 2025

Voting in the provincial election is underway across Ontario.

In Sarnia-Lambton, incumbent Bob Bailey of the Ontario PC Party posted a photo heading into the polling station at Ecole Hillcrest in Petrolia before casting his ballot. Three polls show Bailey is likely to win with about 62 per cent of voters in the riding supporting him.

Candace Young of the NDP also started her morning in Petrolia, having a coffee at Actor’s Casual Dining and meeting people in the downtown. Polls place Young behind Bailey with about 17 per cent of voter support. She also recently was endorsed by the Sarnia and District Labour Council.

It said the current PC government “been using our hard-earned tax dollars to fund private – for profit – health clinics all while intentionally under funding public health care. Homelessness, addictions and mental health challenges have dramatically worsened,” as it called for a new MPP for Sarnia-Lambton.

Also running in the Sarnia-Lambton riding this election are Rachel Willsie for the Liberals, Keith Benn of the New Blue Party, Jacques Bourdeau, a Libertarian candidate, and Nathan Colquhoun, an independent, Mark Lamore of the Ontario Party, The Green Party’s Pamela Reid and Tom Stoukas of the Populist Party.

In Lambton-Kent Middlesex, the incumbent PC candidate is also leading in the polls. Steve Pinsonneault, who only served ten months before this election, has about 68 per cent support according to three polls.

The Liberal candidate, Cathy Burghardt-Jesson, is polling second with about 16 per cent support.

Also running in the riding is Alvinston’s Kathryn Shailer of the NDP, Andraena Tilgner of the Greens and Andy Fisher of the New Blue Party.
