Plympton-Wyoming senior recognized provincially
June 26, 2025
A Plympton-Wyoming volunteer is one of 22 honoured by the province with an Ontario Senior Achievement Award.
Susan Wright, who last year was Plympton-Wyoming’s Senior of the Year, was among seniors from around the province at Queen’s Park to receive the honour from the Lieutenant Governer, Edith Dumont.
Wright, a retired public servant, volunteers weekly as a fitness instructor for seniors and leads a summer aquafit class for women.
In 2022, Wright opened her home to a Ukrainian refugee, helping her adjust to life in Canada, find work and learn English. Her compassion and energy left a lasting impact, said provincial officials in a news release. “Susan’s ongoing commitment to health, wellness and community support exemplifies her leadership and generosity,” the news release says.
“It is inspiring to see so many individuals across our province making meaningful contributions to improving the lives of other seniors and building a stronger province,” said Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility.
“These awards recognize the wisdom, generosity, and positive impact of seniors in all aspects of daily life,” said the Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.
