The Sting had a double-digit offensive output with a 7-4 win over the Flint Firebirds at Progressive Auto Sales Arena Sunday. Sarnia, now 2-2 on the season, having beaten Sudbury 6-1 Friday night.
Jordan Bax, Ryder Simpson, Jacob Reese and Cameron Aucoin all recorded their first career OHL tallies for Sarnia and Patrick Quinlan stopped 27 of 28 for his first OHL win between the pipes against the Wolves. Quinlan was injured in Sunday’s game when he collided with Alex Kostov of the Firebirds midway through the second period. Recently acquired overage forward Ben Pickell had his first goal as a Sting Sunday.
London remains winless following a 2-1 loss to Brampton Friday and an 4-3 overtime setback to the Otters in Erie Saturday. Jared Woolley scored three of four goals for the Knights who are now 0-2-2 on the season. The slow start is not uncharacteristic for the Knights and are 3-9-4 in their first four games collectively in four seasons.
Sarnia is home to Niagara on Friday and has a return game in Flint on Saturday. London is home to the Firebirds on Friday and takes on the Storm in Guelph on Saturday.
