Petrolia officials are planning to keep businesses up-to-date on the reconstruction of Petrolia Line. They’re also planning a party to help merchants kick off The Big Dig promotions.

The town has been working behind the scenes with the town’s engineering firm to bring together the details of the $4.5 million reconstruction project. Wednesday, officials were planning to meet with downtown business owners to share what they know so far.

Another meeting is set for June 10, when CAO Manny Baron says more concrete details will be known. “We want to keep businesses informed; that was the commitment we made at the first public meeting,” says Baron.

Deputy Clerk Mandi Pearson says there have been lots of inquiring calls at town hall with many people wanting to know when it’s going to start.

The town is also planning some fun before the work begins. On June 6, the town’s engineering firm CIMA+ is bringing the Eagle’s tribute band Hotel California to town for an open air concert in Victoria Park. The group will play two full sets of Eagle’s classics such as Desperado, Witchy Woman and Tequila Sunrise starting at 8 pm.

The roads around the park will be closed for the event.

The party – one of many planned to encourage people to come downtown despite the construction – marks the beginning of the work expected to begin the first week of July. The first phase will be from Bridgeview Park to Tank Street.
