Sixty per cent of Lambton residents to have first COVID vaccine by end of the week
May 27, 2021
Lambton’s medical officer of health says 60 per cent of adults in the region will have their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine sometime this week.
Dr. Sudit Ranade says there have been 68,755 vaccines given in Lambton by May 26. That’s 58.7 per cent of all adults with one dose. Only five percent of adults are fully vaccinated.
About 1.5 per cent of youth – people under 18 – have had their first shot and just 0.1 per cent are fully vaccinated
That rate of vaccination will keep climbing in June as the amount of vaccine coming into Lambton increases. Ranade says there will be between 28,000 and 30,000 doses delivered in June. In May, there was between 20,000 and 25,000, he says.
Ranade says public health officials are able to handle the 12 to 20 per cent increase as another test clinic ramps up at Clearwater Arena.
