Petrolia tops Mooretown at Silver Stick

The U18 Petrolia Oilers brought the thunder for the marquee game of the first day of Petrolia Regional Silver Stick.

The tournament began today. Both Petrolia and Mooretown had already lost their first games – The Oilers to Strathroy 3-2 and Mooretown to Ingersoll 3-2 when Petrolia handed their Lambton County rivals a 6-1 defeat in the B Division after the opening ceremonies in the evening.

Both Petrolia and Mooretown have the day off tomorrow but will return to play Thursday.

Meantime, in the C Division, East Lambton won twice, beating Dresden 6-3 and Ilderton 3-0. They also have Wednesday off.

Brooke-Alvinston assault

A Brooke-Alvinston resident is facing an assault charge after a fight in Alvinston. Around 7:20 pm, June 24, OPP were called to River Street over a fight between two people. No one was injured. A 57 year-old has been charged with assault. He’ll appear in court Aug. 18.
