Lancers start OFSAA track and field competition today

The provincial high school track and field championships will proceed as planned, according OFSAA. In a post, officials say air quality – which was poor due to smoke from wildfires in Ontario and Quebec – has improved “significantly” in the Ottawa area.

Events are to begin at 2pm Thursday and run until Saturday.

The 15 athletes competing from Sarnia-Lambton schools including one of the larger contingents from LCCVI.

Hunter Mitchell and Charlie Shaw will both compete in two events. Mitchell in both the Novice Boys 100m and 300m hurdles. Shaw will run both the 800m and 1500m in the Senior division.

Hunter Campbell competes in the Junior Men’s Discus event Thursday.

Jack Helps competes Saturday morning in the Senior Men’s Javelin.

James Grant will run the 800m in the Novice Men’s Division.
