LCCVI’s Mitchell qualifies for 100m hurdle final

Hunter Mitchell has qualified for the 100m Hurdles final at the provincial track and field championship.

The LCCVI student placed second in the heats in Ottawa this morning with a time of 14.74 seconds, just behind Kailer Jenney of Medway in Arva who clocked a time of 14.20 seconds.

The finals are at 2:15 pm today. He’ll compete in the 300m hurdles Saturday.

Thursday, LCCVI Grade 10 student Hunter Campbell won gold. Campbell, who was competing in Junior Men’s Discus had a best throw of 55.91m.

This is Campbell’s second time at the provincial high school championship. Last year, he placed fourth as a Novice.

And Charlie Shaw qualified in the heats for the Senior Men’s 1500m with a time of 4:02.02 in fourth position. Ehtan Rashid-Cocker of Bloor placed first in the heats with a time of 3:59.23. The finals are tomorrow at 4 pm.

Also Saturday, James Grant runs the 800m and Jack Helps competes in the Javelin.
