Thedford residents won’t be losing their ambulance station for some time. That from Lambton County officials.

Last month, Lambton Shores councillors voiced concern about a county plan which would close the Thedford station and have Forest paramedics to cover their calls. Lambton EMS also plans to move the Grand Bend station near Pinery Park hoping to provide better coverage.

Lambton Shores Councillor Jeff Wilcox, who lives in Thedford, raised the concern say the station has 40 per cent of Lambton Shores’ calls for service. “Lambton Shores is also growing at 10 times the rate of the county average,” Wilcox noted. That includes Thedford, where two new housing developments have been approved bringing 200 new homes to the area.

Councillors also worried traffic tie-ups on Highway 21 would cause problems for paramedics trying to leave a station near Pinery Park.

The municipality sent a letter to Lambton County council voicing the concerns. June 4, officials told Mayor Doug Cook that with the plans to build a new EMS headquarters ongoing, any changes to Thedford’s service were several years out.

The municipality’s objections will be kept on file until the issue comes up at county council again.

Remembering Croton

July 12, 2025

Heather Wright/The Independent Harold Snary stands under a tree in the postal village of Croton. Those standing with him see a new, siding-clad school and church, a few homes and the traffic whizzing down Oakdale Road. At the corner of Oakdale and Croton Road, they might notice the building which used to be the general store. For most, this 39-person
