Warwick Township inks $2.5M deal for municipal office

Imperial Oil plans to shed 20 per cent of its Canadian workforce

Word today Imperial Oil is going to cut 20 per cent of its workforce by 2027.
The company issued a news release Tuesday morning saying it plans to save $150 million by “centralizing additional corporate and technical activities in global business and technology centres.”
John Whelan, Imperial’s Chairman, President and CEO says in a news release aimed at investors, the restructuring will be “a rigorous transition process and is expected to reduce employee roles by approximately 20 per cent by the end of 2027.
“As part of this change, Imperial will further consolidate activities to its operating sites.”
It was not immediately clear what the impact would be on Imperial’s Sarnia site.
“We recognize the considerable impact this restructuring will have on our employees and their families. We are deeply committed to supporting our employees through this transition,” said Whelan.”
