UPDATE: Highway 402 reopened; traffic problems in London area because of snow

November 11, 2025

The Independent

Highway 402 between Oil Heritage Line and Kerwood Road has reopened.

It reopened around 6:30 Tuesday morning.

An accident involving two transports near Nauvoo Road around 3:30pm Monday initially closed the road at the Nauvoo Road exit. But around 7:30 pm, Lambton OPP closed the entire road between Oil Heritage Road and Kerwood Road because of poor road conditions.

Police were urging drivers to avoid the area and delay non-essential travel until conditions improve, particularly in East and North Lambton, where the snow was the heaviest.

The closure also created backups on London Line. Traffic was being rerouted off the 402 to London Line, however road construction in Warwick Village brought traffic to a standstill. At 7 pm, traffic was backed almost to Forest Line because of the road work.

Heavy snow coming in on streamers off Lake Huron made visibility difficult across parts of the county. The snow was several inches deep on some roadways around Watford.

Aside from the 402 closure, Nauvoo Road was closed between Rokeby and Petrolia Line after an accident around 5:30 pm. It reopened after two-and-a half hours.

On Confederation Line between Watford and Kerwood, several vehicles had hit the ditch including one which had rolled onto its roof.

If you’re heading toward London police are advising caution Tuesday morning after multiple accidents on Highway 401 because of the snow.
