The Mooretown Flags could not climb out of an early three-goal hole in Blenheim bowing to the hometown Blades 6-3 in Provincial Junior Hockey League action.

Mooretown clawed back to cut the deficit to 4-3 in the third period Sunday before Blenheim scored twice in the final few minutes including an empty net tally.

Dylan Dupuis had a goal and two assists for the Flags with Landon Marcy and Noah Waybrant adding the others.

John Chartrand took the goaltending loss with 35 saves.

Saturday at home, Carson Crawford and Geremia Nappi both scored twice and Ethan Dunbar made 30 stops as the Flags downed Walpole Island, 11-3.

Caleb Rosseel and Owen MacDonald both had a goal and two assists for Mooretown. Nolan Bourdage, Masen Flett, Lucas Ross, Ryan Vidler and Dylan Dupuis also scored for the Flags.

Marcy and Jace Dupuis each had three assists. Mooretown is 18-15-1 on the season and six points up on Dresden for fourth place in the Stobbs Division with two games in hand.

The Flags entertain the Kings on Saturday at 7:30.

Dresden beat Amherstburg, 4-3 in overtime Saturday.

Watford’s Ryan Bork had a penalty shot goal for the Kings while Watford’s Blake Verberne picked up the win between the pipes with 36 saves.

The Kings lost to Lakeshore twice, 9-4 at home last Friday night and 8-5 on the road Tuesday night.
