Retirement, training deadlines leave Oil Springs without fire chief on July 1

LCCVI wins Lambton-Kent swimming title

Marnie Sawyer won two events to lead LCCVI at the LKSSAA swimming championships at the Chatham Y.
The victories were among 31 top-three finishes by Lancer swimmers Monday which led the school to the Lambton Kent title.
Leah Stephens, Danielle McKay, Riley Jackson, Ellis Wellington, Parker Leckie and Leah McKay also finished first in their respective events.
Stephens also had a second and a third-place finish. Wellington also had a second-place finish while Leckie had a pair of second-place finishes.
Whitney Wilson had a trio of second place finishes. Yarko Zelenchuk had two seconds and a third. Emily Cools had a second and two thirds while Madailynne Henderson, Jane St. Pierre and Hayden Young each had a second and third.
Elizabeth Kuykendall placed second in her event and Audrey Newman and Ella Boisvert both had thirds.
The Lancers had six top-three showings in medley and relays races winning the senior high school combined team title.
The Lancers were also tops in the women’s high school and women’s open championships.
