College officials call it a “senseless act of violence”

“This loss is a profound tragedy.”

That from Lambton College officials on a social media post this morning in the wake of the murder of a man at the college.

Sarnia Police were called a Lambton College campus bar just before 1 am after gunfire was heard. Police found three people who had been shot, one with life-threatening injuries.

A 20-year-old Sarnia man who was seriously hurt was taken to Bluewater Health where he died.

There is no word on the condition of the two other who were shot.

Police says the shooting is a homicide and are still on the scene at Lambton College.

No one is in custody right now.

The college is closed today and officials on social media officials extended their condolences to the families “affected by this staggering loss.

“Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this senseless act of violence.”

College officials said staff and students can receive support through the Counselling & Wellness and the Employee and Family Assistance Plan. They add they’re working with the Sarnia Police as they investigate.

“We also thank our Sarnia-Lambton community for their support at this difficult time. We ask that the privacy of our community members and their loved ones be respected.”
